WEAKENED
ROBINS SLIP AT FELBRIDGE
Felbridge
4-2 Hassocks
Unavailability and
very late withdrawals made the task even harder
and subsequently the thirds went down 4-2 to a
lively Felbridge side on a very wet surface -
which despite the wet weather was playable and
the only complaint was the amount of leaves on
the pitch which even 'Spiesy' the experienced
train driver could not clear!
It was a strange
Saturday morning as torrential rain seem to
suggest there was no chance this game was gonna
be on.
Felbridge left it to
the ref and this meant a late call which delayed
Hassocks 'warming up' process. As a result we
were not sharp of the blocks and soon fell
behind to an early goal. After that we took the
game to Felbridge and played really well as we
put together a number of good passes to create a
few chances.
Dan Jacques was able
to get on the end of one move to give Hassocks a
deserved equaliser. Hassocks continued to play
well and although the Felbridge forwards were a
constant threat the defence was now handling
them very well.
Unfortunately, we let
in a very poor goal when Jack Simmo & Ruffs
did their 'chuckle brothers' impersonation on
the edge of our own area. The Felbridge forward
moved in quickly to score with ease.
At Half time it was
important for Hassocks to fight back but they
went 3-1 down when a cross hit from inside a
leaf mountain, hit the back post and went in!
But even at 3-1 down Hassocks took the fight to
Felbridge.
Jacques nearly scored
a header but since it was at head height he
struggled. It was Spiesy who brought Hassocks
back into the game when he scored a header
direct from a corner.
A fantastic effort by
Jacques from just out the area nearly got
Hassocks a equaliser and as he fell to his knees
'head in hands', Felbridge broke and got a
penalty when Jack brought down the Felbridge
forward who scored direct from the penalty with
the last kick of the game!
