This
scoreline certainly flattered
Wisdoms who reported this to be
their best performance of the
season to date.
Hassocks
started well and had plenty of
possession and at least twice
broke through the Wisdoms defence
only to be given 'offside' when
well placed.
Somehow
Wisdoms were 2-0 up at half time
as long balls found the Hassocks
defence wide open and Wisdoms
forward was able to score with
ease.
After
half time Hassocks pressed but a
mistimed tackle from Spies led to
Wisdoms winning a penalty and it
was 3-0.
Three
substitutions were made as Church,
Kublikas and Rose came on and
Hassocks responded well to get a
goal back.
Good
work by Hillwood on the left hand
side saw him cross and Adam
Williams score his first goal for
the Thirds at the back post.
Wisdoms
started to wilt and Hassocks
started creating further chances
and look like they maybe able to
turn things around.
A
great run from Richard Fernley saw
his shot deflect on to the bar and
Joe Fernley was unable to score
from the rebound.
Hassocks
look good but then found
themselves on the receiving end of
a debatable decision as Gander had
both hands on the ball and the
Wisdoms midfielder seem to kick
the ball out of his hands and put
it into an empty net.
Everyone
waited for a referee whistle that
never came and Wisdoms were
delighted to go 4-1 up and this
more or less killed the game.
This
was Hassocks' fourth defeat on the
trot and they have slided
down the table. However, this
performance was better than the
last few weeks and there are
encouraging signs as the
youngsters continue to adapt well
in this competitive league.
