ROBINS PICK UP VITAL POINTS
Plumpton Athletic 1-4 Hassocks

Plumpton plan to keep Hassocks waiting for a long long time to start the 2nd half certainly back fired on them because when it did start, local boy M Bates scored against his home village club within 32 seconds of the restart to give Hassocks a comfortable 3-1 lead.

The 1st half had also started brightly for Hassocks who were 2 up after only 15 minutes. Ollie Bowles scored his 1st of the season thanks to a great head back across the goal by Tom Green and then a nice passing movement saw Mark Darbyshire score to put Hassocks firmly in control.

However slack work rate cost Hassocks dear after 25 minutes when a Plumpton midfield was able to run unchallenged for 40 yards and his pass led to a Plumpton goal when the shot from just outside the area took a wicked bounce to get pass Scott McCarthy.

Robbie Kitchen quickly told Scott not to worry about it with a string of expletives!! From then on it was Plumpton who started to dominate possession and although they were unable to create any clear chances, they were firmly in control and sloppy Hassocks were happy to hear the half time whistle.

After Bates had scored his quick goal in the 2nd half, Hassocks continued to dominate and should have scored many more.

It was Robbie Kitchen who got the 4th when he calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner of the goal when the keeper came out.

It was good to see Mike Demario return to action and his pace caused further problems for the Plumpton defence and was denied a well deserved goal when the ref blew for handball.

At the back we remained firm and it was another excellent performance by Sam Franks who worked tirelessly against anything Plumpton threw at him!!
