ROBINS
BREEZE PAST TICEHURST
Hassocks
7-1 Ticehurst
Hassocks
romped home in the intermediate cup
against their East Sussex Premier League
opponents Ticehurst.
Braces from
Dan Jacques, Lee Cooke and further
strikes from Laurence Robinson, Richard Thompson
and Nathan Harvey made for a comfortable
win.
Hassocks
were
missing Brian Husbands due to injury
which meant
that Phil Wickwar came into the defence and
they were also boosted by the returning
Turner and Thompson.
The Robins
controlled the game throughout keeping
the ball well and dominating the first half
with a
goal from the evergreen Cooke after 15 minutes set
them on their way before Thompson (released from girlfriend
duties) smashed in a great finish from
the left after some great build
up play.
Hassocks
went into half time 2-0 up but joint manager
Mickey
Jewell felt his side could do more and
they responded well.
Another
goal apiece from Jacques and Cooke
sealed the win and the front pairing were
rampant with Cooke
being unselfish several times for
Jacques who couldn't quite get his
hat-trick with five real chances.
He was hauled for youth teamer Robinson
who soon showed him how easy it was with
a neat finish.
Harvey replaced the injured Dicky Fernley who
raved down the right and finished with
aplomb.
In all
fairness to Ticehurst they never gave up and
Jack Simpson tipped
over a free kick when most of the
defence thought a catch was in order
although to
be fair he was probably very cold by the
time he was called into action.
Ticehurst got the consolation goal they deserved
for their effort's when Ian Simpson, Ternouth and
Jack Simpson got
themselves in a right state following a
short goal kick and the forward finished
from the angle despite the best efforts
of Wickwar.
Hassocks
have a big month or so coming up and Wickwar and Jewell are happy how things
have gone so far but now the real tests are
coming
