Tuesday
night saw Selsey leave the Beacon with all three
points thanks to a 2-1 win. Sol Bowra was on target
for the Robins. Last night's reserve team game with
Hailsham was abandoned at half time due to
deteriorating pitch conditions with our visits 1-0 up.
Monday night saw the veterans remain their 100% record
with a 1-0 win over Old Varndeanians.
On
Saturday, we welcome Chichester City United to the
Beacon. The reserves travel to Wick, and the third
team are away against Uckfield reserves.

Saturday's
game at Whitehawk saw the Robins go down to a 5-0
defeat against the Division One leaders. The reserves
lost 3-2 away at Shoreham on Friday night, and on
Saturday the third team won 2-1 at home to East
Grinstead United with Mark Darbyshire and Tom Deveson
on target.
Tonight
the veterans return to action at home to Old
Varndeanains at the Beacon, and on Tuesday night we
welcome Selsey for league action

A
Phil Gault goal was enough to give the Robins a 1-0
victory over East Grinstead Town in league action last
time. On Monday, the veterans continued their 100%
record with a 3-0 win over Maresfield Village, with
Paul Rogers, Richard Strange and a stunning goal with
his first touch from Paul Elphick.
On
Saturday we travel to Whitehawk, with the reserves
home on Friday night against Shoreham. The third team
are at home on Saturday against East Grinstead United,
with a 2pm kick off at the Beacon. On Sunday, the
youth team are at home to Shoreham

A
last minute goal from substitute Nathan Miles gave the
Robins a share of the spoils in a 3-3 draw with
Crawley Down on Saturday. Anthony Hibbert netted the
other two, both from the penalty spot. The third team
progressed to the semi-finals of the Montgomery
Challenge Cup with a 2-1 win away at Old Varndeanians,
thanks to a Jamie Hillwood strike and an own goal. The
youth team drew 2-2 away at Pease Pottage on Sunday
Tonight,
the veterans return to action at home to Maresfield
Village with a 7.30pm start at the Beacon, and on
Tuesday night East Grinstead Town visit the Beacon
with a 7.45pm start

Following
the prolonged period of bad weather, football finally
appears to be returning to normal. Tomorrow, we
welcome Crawley Down to the Beacon for our first home
game since Boxing Day, while tonight the reserves are
in action away at Whitehawk. The third team travel to
Old Varndeanians in the quarter finals of the
Montgomery Cup tomorrow, and on Sunday the youth team
are scheduled to travel to Pease Pottage Village.
Joel
Harding and Spencer Slaughter both represented Sussex
in their 1-0 victory over Middlesex on Wednesday
night.
A
couple of dates for your diaries also - on Saturday
March 6th there will be a race night taking place at
the club, and on Saturday March 27th we will also be
holding a quiz. Please try and support what no doubt
will be two fun-filled events

Boxing
Day saw the Robins slip to a 2-1 defeat in the Mid
Sussex derby against St Francis Rangers, with Phil
Gault on target against his old club.
This
weekend all three senior teams return to action. The
first team travel to Three Bridges, with the reserves
at home to Eastbourne Town. The third team are away at
Maresfield Village

Last
Friday night saw two second half goals from Phil Gault
and James Laing give the Robins are 2-2 draw away at
Ringmer. All of the clubs other sides games fell foul
to the weather.
There
is no first team game this Saturday owing to
Whitehawk's FA Vase 3rd round game. The reserves are
in action against Eastbourne Borough III in the Sussex
Intermediate Cup on Saturday with a 3pm kick off at
the Beacon, and the youth team travel to Shoreham on
Sunday. On Monday night, the third team are in action
against Wisdom Sports

A
last minute equaliser from James Laing gave the Robins
a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Lingfield on
Saturday. The reserves hopes of Reserve Section Cup
glory were ended with a 3-1 defeat away at Worthing
United, while the third team also lost, 4-2 away at
Old Varndeanians.
This
Friday we travel to Ringmer, and on
Saturday the reserves face Eastbourne Town at the
Beacon and the third team are away at Crawley Down
III.

Derek
Hurley, Chairman of Hassocks Football Club, has
resigned from the position after ten years because of
additional pressures of work and family.
During this period he played a major part in
the development of the Club, in particular the opening
of the new clubhouse in 2007 which has provided both
first class facilities for the club and a major venue
for cup finals, schools’ fixtures and facilities for
meetings and training events.
Bob
Preston, who has been involved with the Club for 14
years and is currently Match Secretary, will serve as
Acting Chairman in the immediacy and will continue to
lead the Club’s plans for both progression in County
football and, through the Hassocks Community Football
Club, for continuing development in facilities.
Bob said ‘Derek has had a tremendous impact
on the development of The Beacon Ground which provides
some of the best facilities in Mid Sussex.
With over twenty teams under the umbrella of
HCFC, we will continue to take the development forward
to ensure that people of all ages have the opportunity
to enjoy the facilities.
Roger
Hobbs, Chairman of HCFC, added that ‘Derek’s hard
work has put Hassocks Football Club on the map
throughout Sussex.
Plans for future development will provide a
legacy for Derek’s commitment’.

reserve teams game away at Lingfield unsuprisingly
feel foul to the weather. This Saturday, we welcome
Lingfield to the Beacon for league action with a 3pm
start, while the reserves travel to Worthing United in
the Reserve Section Cup. The third team are away at
Old Varndeanians, and on Sunday the youth team take on
St Francis Rangers with an 11am start at the
Beacon

Adverse
weather across Mid Sussex this week meant that the
reserves were the only team to play this weekend,
recording a 3-1 victory over Eastbourne United
Association. They are back in action tomorrow night
away at Lingfield.
Tonight's
scheduled third team game against Uckfield Reserves is
OFF.

Saturday
saw Hassocks go down to a 1-0 defeat away at
Chichester City United in difficult conditions. The
reserves were 2-1 winners over O & G United in the
Sussex Intermediate Cup with Nathan Miles and Laurence
Robinson on target, and the third team went down 4-1
away at league leaders Lindfield with Tom Deveson
netting.
Mile
Oak are the visitors to the Beacon on Friday night
with a 7.45pm start. The reserves play host to Eastbourne
United Association on Saturday at 3pm, with the youth
team traveling to Pease Pottage Village on Sunday. The
veterans have included Paul Elphick in their squad for
the trip to Barcombe on Sunday, with an 11am kick off

game unbeaten run of league leaders Shoreham as the
Robins held on to an excellent 1-0 victory. The
reserves were 3-1 victors away at Pagham, with
Laurence Robinson, Nicki Pitcher and Nathan Miles
scoring, while on Monday the thirds went down 3-1 at
home to Crawley Down III, with Robinson again on
target.
This
Saturday we visit Chichester City United, the reserves
play host to O & G United and the third team
travel to Lindfield. The youth team are in action
tonight away at Shoreham before taking on Saltdean
United on Sunday, and also on Sunday the veterans
return to action away at Barcombe, with both of these
games kicking off at 11am

interest in cup competitions ended this season with a
4-2 home defeat against Selsey in the RUR Charity Cup,
with Neil Kane and Anthony Hibbert on the scoresheet.
The reserves won 3-1 away at Redhill in the Reserve
Section Cup, with Tom Deveson, Nicki Pitcher and
Nathan Miles getting the goals. Tonight, the thirds
went down 3-1 against Balcombe

Saturday we travel to Shoreham in league action, while
the reserves welcome Pagham to The Beacon. On Sunday,
the youth team are away at Rottingdean Village, and on
Monday night the third team take on Crawley Down III

Monday night, the third team picked up their first
league win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Old
Varndeanians, goals coming from Tom Deveson and
Laurence Robinson.
Saturday

Kublickas netting the Robins goal. The reserves went

Senior Cup, and on Sunday the youth team drew 2-2 away
at St Francis Rangers.

from Stuart Faith, Phil Gault, Anthony Hibbert and
Neil Kane gave the Robins an excellent 4-1 home
victory over Pagham. The reserves were held to a
goalless draw away at Selsey, while the third team
went down to a 2-1 defeat at Jarvis Brook. On Sunday,
the youths were beaten 4-2 by Whitehawk.
Next
Saturday we welcome Division Two side Seaford Town to
the Beacon in the John O'Hara League Cup, kicking off
at 3pm. The reserves travel to Ifield Edwards in the
first round of the Mid Sussex Senior Cup, while on
Sunday the youth team travel on St Francis Rangers
with an 11am start

night saw the first team gain another valuable league
point with a 2-2 draw at home to Redhill, with goals
coming from Neil Kane and James Laing. On Monday
night, Paul Elphick put in a man-of-the-match
performance to inspire the veterans side to a 4-0 win
over Plumpton Athletic, with goals coming from Andy
Wilson, a Nigel Carr overhead kick and a Dan Maskell
brace.
Saturday
sees Pagham visit the Beacon in league action, with a
3pm kick off. The reserves make the journey to Selsey,
while the third team are away at Jarvis Brook.
Tonight, the youth team face Haywards Heath with a
7.30pm kick off at the Beacon, before taking on
Whitehawk away on Sunday.

A
thoroughly entertaining game at the Beacon on Saturday
against league leaders Whitehawk saw the Robins go
down to a 5-3 defeat, with a Neil Kane brace and a
penalty from Anthony Hibbert. The thirds went down 4-1
away to Wisdom Sports, while the reserves game were
awarded victory in the Intermediate Cup tie with The Q
Ball due to the opponents being unable to raise a
side.
Tuesdays
league game with Redhill has now been switched to the
Beacon at the request of Redhill FC due to major
roadworks around their Kiln Brow Ground. Kick off will
be at 7.45pm
Tonight,
the veterans begin the defence of their title with the
visit of Plumpton Athletic to the Beacon, with a
scheduled start of 7.30pm

Phil Gault goal ensured that the Robins came away from
Lingfield with a point on Saturday thanks to a 1-1
draw. The reserves were also held to a 1-1 draw in
their league game away at Shoreham on Friday night,
while on Saturday the thirds progressed to the next
round of the Montgomery Cup thanks to an excellent 6-0
win over Uckfield reservers.
On
Wednesday night the reserves travel to Lingfield in
league action, while on Saturday we welcome league
leaders Whitehawk to the Beacon with a 3pm kick off

for the Robins on Tuesday night as they went down 3-2
at home to East Preston, with Phil Gault and Terry
Gacias grabbing the goals.

night, while this weekends action at the Beacon will
see the third team get their Montgomery Cup campaign
underway against Uckfield Reserves, with a 2pm start

defeat away at Molesey on Saturday ended the Robins FA
Vase dream. Thanks to Molesey FC for supplying photos
from the game, which can now be found in the images
section. The reserves were 3-1 winners over Whitehawk
on Friday night thanks to a hat-trick from Matt Amos,
and on Sunday the youth team went down 2-0 away at
Peacehaven and Telscombe. The third team were defeated
5-0 by Lindfield on Monday night

three points in their encounter at the Beacon on
Tuesday night after Neil Kane gave the home side the

Hassocks
will face Molesey in the next round of the FA Vase
following Saturdays 3-1 victory over Sevenoaks Town at
the Beacon. A Neil Kane volley took the game into
extra time, before goals from Dan Jacques and James
Laing secured the trip to the Combined Counties Side
in the next round, with that game due to take place on
Saturday September 19th. The reserves continued their
100% start to the season with a 4-2 victory at Mile
Oak on Friday night, while the thirds began their
campaign with a 1-1 draw at East Grinstead United. The
youth team were defeated by Mile Oak 2-0 on Sunday.
Tomorrow
night the Robins return to league action with the
visit of Three Bridges to the Beacon. Kick off is at
7.45pm

night saw the first team finally get a victory over
Shoreham after four winless attempts last season with
an excellent 1-0 win courtersy of a James Laing goal.
Tomorrow night the reserves are away at Mile Oak with
a 7.15pm kick off, while on Saturday we welcome
Sevenoaks Town to the Beacon in the first qualifying
round of the FA Vase. The third team also get their
campaign underway on Saturday away at East Grinstead
United, and on Sunday Mile Oak are the visitors to the
Beacon for the first youth team game of the season
beginning at 11am.
We
are once again running a "Sponsor a Player"
campaign for the coming season. For the bargain price
of £25 you will can sponsor a member of the Robins
squad, and in exchange you will have your name or
whatever you want (within reason!) printed in each of

Hassocks
returned to winning ways last night with an excellent
3-1 victory away at Hailsham Town. Spencer Slaughter
ended a fine passing move involving six other players
to give the Robins a lead, and second half goals from
Anthony Hibbert and Neil Kane secured the three

kick off, while the reserves are away to the same

FA Cup dream came to an early end on Saturday as Ash
United triumphed 4-1 at The Beacon in the Extra
Preliminary Round, with James Laing on target. Friday
night saw the reserves get off to the best possible
start to their league campaign with a 2-0 victory over
St Francis Rangers, Richard Thomas and Phil Johnson
getting the goals
Tomorrow
night, the Robins return to league action with an away
game at Hailsham Town, 7.45pm kick off.

After
a successful pre-season, the real action gets underway
this Saturday as the Robins travel to Wick with a 3pm
kick off. The league fixtures for the first month have
now been announced for both first team and reserves

The
draws for this seasons FA competitions were made
earlier today, and they have thrown up home ties in
the opening rounds of both. On the 15th August, the FA
Cup adventure begins in the Extra Preliminary Round,
when Ash United of the Combined Counties Premier, whom
the Robins defeated 2-0 in the first round of the FA
Vase in the 2007-2008 season, visit The Beacon. The
winners of this tie will progress to the Preliminary
Round on August 22nd, where the reward is a home tie
against either Erith & Belvedere, of the Kent
Football League, or Sandhurst Town, also of the
Combined Counties Premier. The First Qualifying Round
follows on September 12th, with Ryman Division One
South side Whyteleafe or Uxbridge of the Southern
League South & West Division waiting should the
Robins make it that far.
In
the FA Vase, Kent Football League side Sevenoaks Town
will make the trip to the Beacon on September 5th for
the First Qualifying Round, with the winners earning a
trip to Molesey of the Combined Counties League in the
Second Qualifying Round. Fellow Sussex County League
Division One side Arundel will be the opponents on
October 3rd if we make it to the First Round

to the new season! The club will be holding is annual
general meeting on Wednesday July 8th from 7pm onwards
at The Beacon. All members are invited to attend for
the opportunity to hear a review of club activities,
financial position, future plans, and to vote on
appointments and other issues
