ROBINS
HELD BY TEN MEN CROWS
Crowborough
Athletic 0-0 Hassocks
Hassocks missed a
golden opportunity of another three points on
the road when they drew 0-0 at Crowborough on
Saturday. Although they played the last 35
minutes against just 10 men after the dismissal
of Crows' substitute Chris Ransome, in truth
they did not do enough to earn the win and in
the end were again indebted to Joel Harding
after he superbly saved Dave Adams spot kick
with 12 minutes remaining.
Hassocks' first
chance fell to Daley Clark, played in by Neil
Kane, but the Robins striker delayed his effort
and Chris Smith got back to avert the danger. On
26 minutes Spencer Slaughter's excellent volley
was parried away by Rob Gordon, whilst Kublickas
fired into the side netting from an angle.
Crows full back
Luke Leppard hit the top of the bar with a cross
on 41 minutes and just before the interval Kane
found himself clear following Anthony Hibbert's
pass but his lob went wide of the post. The
lively Tom Saunders tested Harding early in the
second period before the home side were reduced
to ten men on 55 minutes, Ransome earning his
second yellow card after a stamp on Faith.
The sending off
seemed to spurs the Crows on, they hit the
crossbar and were then awarded a penalty, but
Harding was equal to Adam's penalty, and the
hosts missed two further chances before the
final whistle.
Hassocks:
Harding, Jacques, Kublickas, Marsh, Lear, Faith;
Gacias, Slaughter, Hibbert; Clark, Kane
