ROBINS
BACK ON SONG
Hailsham
Town 1-3 Hassocks
Hassocks bounced
back from a poor showing at the weekend to
secure an excellent 3-1 league win at Hailsham
Town on Tuesday. Goals
from Spencer Slaughter, Anthony Hibbert and Neil
Kane gave the Robins a second away win in six
days and the most pleasing aspect was that they
played some super passing football, highlighted
by a truly memorable opening goal in the first
minute.
It was one of the
best seen by Robins supporters in many a year as
Stuart Faith, Ashley Marsh, Terry Gacias, Arni
Kublickas, Hibbert, Slaughter and Richard
Thompson were all involved in a flowing move
that Slaughter finished with an exquisite shot
into the top corner from 12 yards.
Anyone arriving
late would have missed an excellent goal but
they did not have to wait long to see another as
on four minutes Scott McDonald fired the hosts
level from the spot after Marsh had hauled him
down. The Robins continued to pass the ball
through midfield, with Gacias, Slaughter and
Hibbert turning in much-improved performances.
Daley Clark
headed just over and both Matt Amos and
Slaughter had good chances to give Hassocks the
lead before the interval, while at the other end
Tyler Goatcher blazed over when well placed.
Hassocks finally
regained the lead on 63 minutes in controversial
circumstances when Mark Oldroyd was penalised
for picking up what was adjudged as a back pass
and Hibbert curling the ball in from Slaughter's
touch.
t was harsh on
the hosts but it boosted Robins' confidence and
they dug their heels in as Neil Kane netted a
third a minute after coming on as sub, as he
stole onto a Kublickas cross to shoe the ball
past the Hailsham keeper
Hassocks;

Unused subs: I

Middy Starman:
Sol Bowra won most headers and tackles in a good
team performance but the vote just goes to
SPENCER Slaughter.
